Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated 3 October 2026

Statusbeat is for keeping an eye on your own services. These rules keep it from being used against anyone else.

Only monitor what you run

Monitor only websites, APIs, and bots that you own or have clear permission to monitor. One-minute checks require you to verify you control the domain.

Not allowed

  • Using checks to load-test, flood, or attack a service, or to get around rate limits or blocks
  • Probing private networks, or trying to get around our protections against that
  • Monitoring someone else's service to track or harass them
  • Status pages or incident posts that impersonate another organisation, deceive visitors, or contain illegal, hateful, or sexual content
  • Using the Discord bot to spam servers or anyone who did not ask for updates
  • Creating many accounts to get around usage limits
  • Sharing heartbeat tokens or API keys so others can bypass limits

What we do about it

We may pause monitors, block checks to a host, take down status pages, remove the bot from a server, or suspend accounts. Where we can, we tell you what happened and why.

Report misuse

If Statusbeat is checking your service and you did not ask for it, or a status page is misusing your name, use the report form, or ask in our support server. Our requests always identify themselves with the user agent described on our bot page.
