Our monitoring requests
If you found this page in your logs, a Statusbeat user has set up an uptime check for your site. Every request we send carries this user agent:
Statusbeat-Monitor/1.0 (+https://statusbeat.app/bot)
What the requests do
- One request to one URL, every 1 to 30 minutes, as chosen by the user.
- A GET or HEAD request. We read at most 1 MB of the response and discard the body.
- When a check fails, a second check comes from another region to confirm it.
- We never crawl, follow links, submit forms, or run scripts.
- Each host has a ceiling on how often all users together can check it.
Who is allowed to set them up
Our Acceptable Use Policy only allows people to monitor services they own or have permission to monitor. Checks more often than every 5 minutes require proving ownership of the domain.
Stopping the requests
If you did not agree to this, report it and choose “This service is checking my site without permission”. Include your domain. We stop the checks and can block your host so nobody can add it again. Blocking our user agent also works: the checks will simply fail and the person who set them up will see that.
